Leaders/top shot

Hi Rich - am hoping for a little instruction. A relative has steered me into bucktailing for fluke instead of dragging rigs. Was wondering about the proper use of top shot or leader material. I was given a spinning reel spooled with 15# Power Pro braid, tied with an albright knot to 10 feet or so of 15# flourocarbon leader. Question is, why use leader material, and is there a difference between flouro and mono leaders? Thanks, Steve

The flouro helps hide the line from the sight of fish. I have done well without flouro in catching fluke on bucktails using just a 2 foot section tied o the braid, others swear by flouro..

Hi Rich - update on this: used mono for leader and did very well, including a 5 pounder. My kids even caught plenty with the same tackle. Thanks for the help!
