blackfish reels

would you prefer a reel that has a high gear ratio to quickly take up line and pull the blackfish away from its hole quickly or a reel with a low gear ratio so that you can power the blackfish away from its hole so that it won't break you off?

I prefer a high speed reel, but there are still anglers that use 1 to 1 ratio sidewinders to this very day

i never understood why people use low ratio reels for blacks or any bottom fish. i like to pull them up as soon as i feel a hit. that's why i always prefer graphite rods and not glass. i feel every tap with graphite and know when to set the hook and start reeling.
